James,
Just to clarify a couple things:
-phpBB is completely free.
-This current site is using WordPress and not phpBB. My BMW Forums are using phpBB (http://www.bimmermania.com).

As far as I know you can post video codes in phpBB using the flash button on the posting form. phpBB removed the option to post html in messages in the upgrade from 2.x to 3.x so the straight codes wouldn't work unless you edited some of the files to make it work for videos. I'm sure there are mods that you can download and install to make the video codes work.

Hello Kyle

I want to build a forum that allows users to upload video replies via embeded Youtube, Yahoo video etc codes. Does PHPBB allow you to do this or would I have to buy an upgrade?

Thanks

My upgrade went great! I honestly had absolutely no problems. The site that I upgraded was also heavily modified. You can take a look if you want:
http://www.bimmermania.com

It's not as heavily modified now as it was before, but everything is working fine with no problems at all!

Just make backups so that you can revert back if anything goes wrong and you should be perfectly fine as well! Good luck!

How did your upgrade go? We were going to do the same upgrade this week (June 30th), and our webmaster said that you can't get there from here and that the site tech told her that 3.x is very buggy with lots of issues.
