Monthly Archive for October, 2008
Today was such a slow day, but Jasmine and I decided to make the most of it by ordering some takeout from Outback Steakhouse and laying around watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S. all day.
Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve had a meal from outback and it was so good. A nice 10 oz. steak, potatoes, salad and bread.
What an amazing meal and to top it off…F.R.I.E.N.D.S. went so well with the meal! That was also my first experience with Outback Steakhouse, but it tastes every bit as good at home as in the restaurant.
I look forward to my next encounter with a meal from Outback, haha. ![]()
I’d had the same strings on my guitar for about 6-7 months before finally getting around to changing them. That’s a very long time for one set of strings if you weren’t aware.
It of course depends on how much or how often you play. Eventually the strings just go flat or I tend to call them dead. They don’t have a clear ring anymore and just sound awful.
Well I finally bought some new strings and just played for a little while tonight for the first time (actually playing much at once) in a long time. New strings are as pleasing as the scent of fresh cut grass.
I have a feeling this weekend will go by very quickly now..
After playing around with Adobe Photoshop a little today in my spare time, I decided to change up the header a little. I’m working a something new still, but for now I’ve updated to one that I made really quick.
Here is the one that I uploaded in it’s original form:
And here is the actual one that I uploaded after just using a color overlay with the same opacity levels:
Both are short and simple, but I thought that the second was a little cleaner and I want a clean design so that’s why I picked it for now. Feel free to design some art for me yourself if you would like! Just link to it in the comments so I can check it out!
Today I came across an interesting web site with the goal of keeping people notified when their web browsers are out dated. It’s called Pushup.
It’s a simple project and it’s something that you install on your website so you yourself can make a difference online.
In short, Pushup is a simple javascript file (images and css included) that detects the browser bring used when you visit a web site using it. After detecting the browser and browser version it does one of two things:
- If the browser is outdated: It will display a simple and elegant message notifying the user that there is an update available to the browser they are using and even include a link to the download page.
- If the browser is not outdated: It will stop the script and the visitor will see nothing.
You can download a compressed file containing the javascript, images and css from the Pushup homepage. After that it’s as easy as adding these lines to the header of your web site:
<link rel=’stylesheet’ type=’text/css’ href=’css/pushup.css’ />
<script type=’text/javascript’ src=’js/pushup.js’></script>
Depending on your directory names you may need to slightly adjust those paths. Other than that it works immediately (clear your header cache if you’re serving cached files if you want to see it immediately).
I got an email from my political science professor today and he wanted us to watch YouTube video that’s trying to get more young people to get out and vote. I thought it was pretty cool, so I’ll add to the viral message.
