I am from Thailand, then execute for my poor English. I am 56 years old. I use Ubuntu 8.10 and I love it. I boot to Windows XP only if I want to invest in stock market as those website need Java Virtual Machine to display real time data.
I think if most of windows users ever try Ubuntu they will like it. But they are lucky they will not face the problem of hardware driver. I cannot use microphone, web cam but I still prefer Ubuntu as it have other features that compensate those hardware driver.
Enjoy Ubuntu and Thank for the building team.

Ubuntu is great. I have three versions installed, Ubuntu 8.04 32-bit, 8.04 64-bit and Ubuntu 8.10 32-bit and all work great.

I also have Sidux, Sabayon, Fedora 9, MEPIS 7 and 8, Mandriva One 2008 and PCLOS 2008 installed. All of the Ubuntus work better than Fedora, Mandriva and PCLOS. The only one that gives it a run for the money is MEPIS 8. I typically run 11 different distros and stay in one environment for several days, if I can stand them that long. I use Gnome and KDE interchangeably, so the desktop is not a factor.

I always go back to Ubuntu in the end. It is reliable and always fresh without being prone to breakage. Ubuntu 8.10 looks great and while it is still a bit buggy it is exciting. It boots and shuts down faster than any distro I have used. It has some great new tools and features. Now, if they could just do something about the theme, not that it matters overly, as I change everything to suit myself, anyway.

Enjoyed your comments.

I just like ubuntu because it works pretty good. It really doesn't offer any more than a stock debian install with a DE. There's not much custom ubuntu software aside from the proprietary driver installer and ufw.
