Given the availability of larger drives in the future, Ext4 will allow uninterrupted high-speed downloads lasting more than 196,810 years. I can hardly wait.

That is very possibly, yet files created previous to the file system conversion will still not be in the new extends format.

You may have access to ext4 already if you use a rolling-release distro like arch linux or gentoo.
