I’m also trying to connect this the vx-1000 webcam in Lucid 64bits. Video works fine in Skype. Sound isn’t working.

I mentioned in the post that there were a few solutions, but that they were all for 32-bit systems and didn’t work for 64-bit systems.

Your tip is specific to 32-bit systems using this webcam.

Just start skype like this:
env LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype
It will work fine

Just like you I was pleased to see Cheese work with this camera on Ubuntu lucid Beta 1.
However, I can’t get it to work on Skype.
I used the latest version (2.1.0.81) but it did’nt work.

Have you had any succes with this?
