I know this is actually posted on the 26th of April, but it’s all about the 25th of Arpril.
My day way pretty good for the most part and I even started a bit early on my C project today (yesterday), but I started reading the news and I found that today was just like any other day. Murder and robbery are still the most talked about subjects in every single news feed that I subscribe to. I really wish that I didn’t check-up on the news! I’m so sick of reading about people who’ve died. I don’t want to know every damn day that someone died! I mean honestly,… do you want to see this life the way it really is??…every man trying to get something of his own and murdering others to get there? I mean that is just selfish! I’ve never done this before, but after reading the news I just want to make a tribute to a child that was killed in a very unfortunate event:
Marcus Lassiter: - source (WRAL):
http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/2741147/
“A family of a 7-year-old boy, killed by a driver accused of being drunk at the wheel, is struggling to make sense of his death.
State troopers said Marcus Lassiter was trying to cross Heath Road, near his grandmother’s house, when a car struck him Sunday evening.
A helicopter rushed him to Duke University Hospital in Durham.
“I was trying to stay optimistic for the most part. I just didn’t want, I just didn’t want to have to go through the pain I’m going through now,” brother Kenny Sanders said.
Doctors declared Marcus brain dead and he was taken off life support Monday evening.
“He was happy, always happy. You’ve never seen him down, never seen him sad. Every time I saw him, he brought a smile to my face,” Sanders said.
The driver, whom police know as Pollo Hernandez Rodriquez, was arrested after he tried to flee the scene, the state Highway Patrol said.
Rodriquez faces charges of felony hit and run, driving while impaired, driving without a license, driving a stolen car and causing serious injury with a motor vehicle.
he Highway Patrol said Tuesday they believe Rodriquez did not give them his real name. Troopers are trying to determine his identity to run a criminal background check. That will help determine what additional charges are appropriate, they said.
Sanders said he wants justice for his brother, but that for now, he is focusing on his family.
“We lost somebody very near and dear to us, so to think of, to waste emotions on [Rodriquez] would be, you know, it would just be a waste,” he said.
Rodriquez remained in jail Tuesday evening, held on a $1 million bond.
The Lassiter family told WRAL they plan to attend every Rodriquez court appearance.”
Me:
This just bothers me that people can be so careless and continue on the way we are! Other than that…I have nothing else to say. Just don’t take you’re own life for granted and do think of others more than yourself. Other than that, just be thankful for the honest/law-abiding people out there who would not do something like this to any child. Thank you for being responsible and watching out for children who will become our future.
I know this message is a bit deeper than I normally post, but when I see in the news that a 7 year old was hit by a car and the driver was not a responsible person…well it saddens me. That’s all for tonight.
