Opera today released a new version of its desktop browser, Opera 9.60.
Highlights include:
- Feed preview
- Speed enhancement
- Opera Link synchronizes more data (Custom search engines and typed history)
- Mail improvements (Low bandwidth mode, Follow/Ignore threads & contacts and Go to Thread)
This release is a recommended security and stability upgrade.

This tip will help you to resume a download (especially large size) in the following cases.
- Accidentally removed transfer from the transfers tab.
- Closed Opera with an intention to resume download next day but transfer is missing when Opera is started.
- Resuming download with an another high speed mirror.
The following will work when server allows resuming of broken downloads.
- Start download again and save with another name.
- Stop transfer after few seconds.
- Delete new download file.
- Rename old download file with new name.
- Resume transfer.

So I stayed up much longer than I should have tonight, but I did get to catch up with a long time friend (geeky online friend) in the Opera IRC snapshots chat channel.
It was a fun chat and I didn’t realize that he had moved out of the country, but hey…we all have to leave at one point or another…but some of us never come back. 
In geek world you might under stand this, but chances are…you’re not going to understand this cause you’re either looking for instructions and a how-to for some Linux thing or a web design tip or just a good friend who is faithful and reads my blog daily ( Hannah, thanks). The other day this “duh” idea just popped into my head, so I thought I might draw it up and send it off to get some opinions and reviews.
Basically, I just realized that while adding a new entry to Speed Dial is relatively painless, it could be a whole lot more convinient and here’s how.
If for instance you find yourself checking a specific web site or web page frequently then you might be tempted to bookmark that page or save it to Speed Dial.
If you think about it, to bookmark a page you don’t even have to “leave” the page or switch to a different screen or window to do so.
You can go to the menu item “Bookmarks -> Bookmark Page” or you can just press Ctrl+D.
My idea makes adding or updating Speed Dials more intuitive in a way by adding a menu item to the right click menu of all pages.
I would add the entry “Add to Speed Dial”, which would then open a simple dialog prompting the user to select the Speed Dial entry that they would like to store the current page to.
This would be very handy in my opinion as not all users will realize that they don’t have to copy and paste the url if it is not already listed in their opened pages, frequently visited pages or an Opera page.
It’s also (in my opinion) visually reassuring of which page you are actually adding.

Hello, my name is Øyvind and this is my first post here since I joined the Opera's Desktop Team less than two months ago. It has been a busy time for me, but at the same time, I think it was the perfect time for me to join. I have already witnessed the release of 9.52, and we are getting close to releasing 9.6.
Before I started, I was just a MyOpera member roaming the #weekly IRC channel. Fridays were always a highlight. That's when I got the answer to all my questions. Did someone fix my bugs? Were there any new features enabled? When is the next version due? Now when I am on the inside I get to know all this information every day I go to work. And the best of all, I can now fix bugs myself, as well as play and contribute new functionality for the next release. So now I get to have fun every day. What more can I ask for?
Today we have formally EV-enabled Verisign and Comodo in Opera v9.5 and later, which you can read more about in
Yngve's blog post. So go and try out our new snapshot, and have a lovely weekend.
